Bridlewood Academy is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate is committed to helping students with diverse learning needs achieve academic success while fostering an inclusive, supportive learning environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in compliance with federal, state, and district guidelines.
• Provide specialized instruction in academic, communication, behavioral, and social-emotional skills.
• Create supportive classrooms using visual supports, schedules, and sensory strategies.
• Collect and analyze student data to monitor progress and adjust instruction accordingly.
• Maintain accurate documentation of IEP goals and services.
• Promote self-regulation, communication, and social skills to build student independence.
• Utilize augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) systems to support student needs.
• Collaborate with general education teachers and related service providers to support student success.
• Participate in IEP meetings and communicate regularly with parents and guardians.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field.
• Valid South Carolina teaching certification in Special Education (or eligibility for certification).
• Knowledge of IDEA, IEP development, and special education best practices.
• Experience creating visual schedules, communication supports, and structured learning environments for students with diverse needs.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
• Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with elementary-aged students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
• Experience implementing visual supports, social narratives, sensory accommodations, and augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) systems.
• Training in de-escalation strategies and behavior intervention planning.
• Experience collaborating within inclusive classroom settings.
