Complaint Policy

Bridlewood Academy welcomes open, honest communication with the families and community we serve. When a concern arises, we want it heard, taken seriously, and resolved fairly. This policy explains how a concern may be raised and how the school will respond.

Who May File a Complaint

Any of the following may file a complaint under this policy: a parent or guardian of a current student, a current student (with the support of a parent or guardian), a Bridlewood Academy staff member, or a member of the community directly affected by a school decision, action, or condition.

Step 1. Informal Resolution

Most concerns are resolved quickly and directly. We ask that you first bring the concern to the staff member closest to the situation, such as the classroom teacher or the staff member involved. If the matter is not resolved at that level, or if it is more appropriate to begin with school leadership, please contact the Principal Michael Manning. Many concerns are settled at this stage through a simple conversation.

Step 2. Formal Written Complaint

If the concern is not resolved informally, you may submit a formal written complaint to the Principal Michael Manning. A written complaint should include your name and contact information, a clear description of the concern, the dates and people involved, any steps already taken to resolve it, and the outcome you are seeking.

Bridlewood Academy will acknowledge a written complaint within five (5) school days and provide a written response within ten (10) school days of receipt. If additional time is needed to look into the matter, the school will notify you in writing of the expected timeline.

Step 3. Appeal to the Board of Directors

If you are not satisfied with the Principal’s response, you may appeal in writing to the Bridlewood Academy Board of Directors within ten (10) school days of receiving that response. The appeal should explain why the matter remains unresolved and what outcome you are seeking. The Board, the board attorney, or a committee designated by the Board, will review the appeal and issue a written decision. The decision of the Board is the school’s final administrative response.

Complaints Involving Discrimination or Harassment

Concerns that allege discrimination, harassment, or a denial of rights based on a protected class (such as race, color, national origin, sex, age, or disability) are addressed under the school’s Notice of Nondiscrimination and related Title IX and Section 504 procedures rather than under this general policy. Please refer to those notices for the specific process and point of contact.

Non-Retaliation

Bridlewood Academy will not retaliate against any person for filing a complaint in good faith or for taking part in the review of a complaint. Concerns about retaliation may be reported directly to the Principal, to the Chairman of the Board of Directors, or the board attorney.
